A reminder from a concerned neighbor, I think she says it all... Last Thursday our family pet was killed by yet another speeding driver down Oneal. We watched him swerve as he hit our pet, yet he did not even stop. We live near the entrance across from the high school, and yet it seems to be a runway, especially once school has let out. While for us, this loss was tragic, I can imagine how easily it could be a child walking home from school, as many in our neighborhood do. All it takes is speed, a little inexperience, and maybe changing the song on an ipod or checking a text. At the beginning of the school year, my husband was passed at well over 50mph by a speeding teen who had been behind him and was apparently too impatient to drive behind him anymore. He followed her home and informed her mother. The mother was grateful to know. We too have a driving teen and are very conscious of the responsibilities that go along with that. Please, if everyone could be a little more conscious of their own speed, whether you are an adult late for work, or a teenager hanging out with your friends. I am begging you, to slow down, before something tragic and life-altering occurs.
