Hello, This is a reminder to everyone . . . when walking, you should be on the left side of the street, facing oncoming traffic. Yesterday we had a very scary incident where someone running was nearly hit by a car because they were running on the wrong side of the road and suddenly made a left from O'Neal onto Lakewood, without looking behind them. They were running on the right side of the road, which meant they had to completely crossed over O'Neal to get to Lakewood and did not look back over their shoulder to know a car was coming up behind them. It was the quick reflexes and defensive driving skills of the driver that averted the accident. Please be especially aware of your surroundings if you're listening to music wearing headphones or earbuds that will prevent you from hearing cars around you. Additionally, if you are walking, especially at dawn and dusk, be sure to wear bright colors so you will be visible to drivers. Lastly, when driving in the neighborhood, remember the speed limit is 25 mph (this makes things safer for everyone, including the walkers). Thank you.
