Hello neighbors! I'm Colleen Streetman, from Katharina Court. Last year several awesome Springdale & Baybridge neighbors joined my kids and me in donating monthly for the BackPack Buddies program (Inter-Faith Food Shuttle). Not money, but FOOD. Food that some kids wouldn't have to eat over the weekend if it wasn't for the backpacks full of food they get each Friday from school. No matter the reason a child is hungry, it is not their fault. This is one of the easiest ways you can help these kids and have a direct impact on their lives. 1. Buy 1-2 extra inexpensive food items when you're at the store once a month. 2. Put it on your porch. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. When you're at the store, pick up 1-2 items from the list of acceptable donations. Every month (you will get friendly reminders) you put these items in a bag on your front porch on the designated date, and I will pick them up and deliver all of the donations to the Food Shuttle where they will pack backpacks that go directly to schoolkids every week. Participate when you want to, don't when you can't. My donations + your donations + your neighbor's donations + his neighbor's donations + 25 neighbors' donations = LOTS OF FOOD FOR HUNGRY CHILDREN! Our goal is to get neighborhoods all across Raleigh involved so our community's kids never go hungry.(We currently have 4 participating neighborhoods, plus 2 upcoming). PORCH Durham (which our program is based on) has over 80 neighborhoods involved, providing 100% of the food needed for ALL DURHAM SCHOOLS. The Raleigh schools need more help! Please consider adding your name to our growing list of BackPack Buddies sustainers! No need to respond unless you would like to join us or ask a question, which I am more than happy to answer! Thank you for your time and consideration! Colleen Colleen Streetman 8804 Katharina Ct (919) xxx-xxxx
