Hi neighbors! My name is Colleen Streetman from Katharina Court. I am the Springdale/Baybridge Neighborhood Coordinator and co-founder of PORCH Raleigh, which collects monthly food donations for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle's BackPack Buddies program. Our program is an official PORCH community, that was inspired by PORCH Durham, which now has over 80 neighborhoods involved, providing 100% of the backpack foods needed for ALL DURHAM SCHOOLS. Raleigh schools need more help! This is one of the easiest ways you can help these kids and have a direct impact on their lives. Just two simple steps, once a month! 1. Buy 1-2 (or more) extra inexpensive food items when you're at the store once a month. 2. Put it on your porch. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. When you're at the store, pick up 1-2 (or more) items from the list of acceptable donations. Every month (you will get friendly reminders), put these items in a bag on your front porch on the designated date, and I will pick them up and deliver all of the donations to the Food Shuttle where they will pack backpacks that go directly to schoolkids every week. Participate when you want to, don't when you can't. (*Flexible drop-off on my porch is also available.) My donations + your donations + your neighbor's donations + his neighbor's donations + 25 neighbors' donations = LOTS OF FOOD FOR HUNGRY CHILDREN! Check out https://porchcommunities.org/community/raleigh/ AND the PORCH Raleigh Facebook page, and please consider adding your name to our growing list of BackPack Buddies sustainers! Contact me with any questions you may have, or if you want to participate! xxx@xxx.com We are hoping to start up a fresh food program in Raleigh next year as well! Let us know if you're interested in helping! Thank you for your time and consideration! Colleen
